Art Studio Daily Calendars

 The Calendars displayed will have the daily craft for the art studio listed.  The crafts are available all day in the art studio. 

  Special Events & Programs

The special events and programs listed are offered on the dates and times listed only.  Children must sign up for the program as they are entering Otterville.  Spaces are limited for the programs and are excepted on a first come-first serve basis.  Pre-Registration & reservations are not accepted.  You must be present to register for a program.  Announcements for the start of the programs are not made so please be aware of the time and try to arrive promptly in the events room.  Group programs are available upon request, 2 day notice is required for all group programs.  To schedule a group program call Sandy at (859)491-1441 Monday - Friday 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.

 January 2012

Snowy Days Project - January  2nd - 6th  Times: 11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

As the cold winter days of January begin, come down and join us for a wintery adventure.  We'll start with a story about What Snowmen Do At Night, then we will be making two different crafts, one will be a snowman and the other will be a snow flake.  We'll finish up by warming up with some tasty hot chocolate.

Alphabet Creations -  January 9th - 13th.  Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m

In this fun event we will read the story Chicka-Chicka-ABC.  After the story we will make our own Alphabet Tree just like the one in the story!  Hopefully all our our ABC's stay in the tree!

Collage Making  -  January 16th - 20th  Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

In this program we will be making a collage.  We will be cutting and pasting different pictures we find onto our own collage.  Children are encouraged to bring additional pictures from home they may want to add to their collage.

Friendship Party -  January 23rd - 27th.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

Join us for a friendship party!  Bring a friend with you or make new friends at the party!  We will listen to a story about friendship, share a snack with all our friends, and make a friendship bracelet or necklace to remember our new and old friends we met at the party.

Puppet Making  -  January 30th & 31st.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

In this program we are going to make our own different kinds of puppets, so we can put on a puppet show!!  We will make two different kinds of puppets, then we can perform our own puppets shows with our new puppets in the children's puppets show room.

  Amazing Animals -  January 11th  Time: 12:30p.m.

  Come and check out Otterville's live animal exhibit!  We will be discussing the live animals we have in Otterville, learning about where they live and what they eat.  We will also get to touch some of the animals to see how they feel!!

  Tea Party -  January 3rd & 19th  Time: 12:30p.m.

Young ladies and gentleman join us for "tea time", come dressed in your best attire as we serve up "tea" and cookies to all who attend.  We will be practicing using our proper manners at the table while enjoy great conversation and music with our fellow tea partiers.

   Bingo -  January 23rd  Time: 12:30p.m.

It's an enjoyable game of matching fun for everyone!  Be the first to match the pictures on your game card with the bingo callers pictures and win a prize!!  All who participate will receive a prize!

February 2012

Puppet Making  -  February 1st - 3rd.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

In this program we are going to make our own different kinds of puppets, so we can put on a puppet show!!  We will make two different kinds of puppets, then we can perform our own puppets shows with our new puppets in the children's puppets show room.

 Valentine's Party -  February 6th - 10th, 13th & 14th.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

Join our Valentine's Party for lots of exciting fun!  We will begin by decorating Valentine goodie bags for all our Valentines!!  We will then go on an adventure to find Cupid's hidden treasures to fill our goodie bags with!

Painting-A-Plenty  -  February 15th - 17th.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

How many different ways do you know how to make a painting?  In this program we will explore the world of paint with different types of paints and painting styles.  We'll begin by making a crayon resistant water color painting, followed up by sponge painting, and concluding with face painting (optional).

Mardi Gras Celebration  -  February 20th - 24th.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

Let's celebrate the excitement of Mardi Gras!!  We will be making masks using scissors, glue, paper plates, popsicle sticks, yarn, stickers, construction paper, and many other fun craft materials.    Every child will get to design their masks in their own unique ways! 

Dental Health Fun!!  -  February 27th - 29th.   Times:  11:00a.m. & 1:30p.m.

In honor of Children's Dental Health Month, we are going to listen to a story about the Dentist.  Next, we are going to paint a giant tooth with a real tooth brush!
